BICKNELL HISTORY

Cardinal & Clover is the historic 420 building on main street in Clare, Michigan.  One of the original buildings built in 1903.  This beautiful building was part of "The Bicknell Block" as it was originally known because it takes up nearly an entire city block.

This historic building was once home to several businesses the first being the Wm. H. Bicknell & Co. Department Store.   Nathan Bicknell was a pioneer business man in the general merchandise retailing and developed the Wm. H. Bicknell & Co. department store into a central Michigan landmark.
